The baker’s noticeboard.

OK, I admit it. This isn’t the most gobsmacking transformation of a flea market object that you’ll ever see, but I think it’s pretty cool.

If you read my last post about our trip to the Carmarthen flea market just after Christmas you might have spotted my bargain £2 bread cooling rack. It was mucky, battered and destined for the scrap heap, but I bashed it into shape and reincarnated it as a noticeboard (of sorts!).

Flea market finds: Carmarthen.

I think I owe my blog an apology. It’s the end of the second week back at work after the Christmas break, and to say I’m struggling with the old routine is something of an understatement. The mornings are dark and the days are long, and by the time I’m home I barely have the energy for Eastenders, let alone blogging!

But, I have resolved, things are going to change. In the words of Yazz, the only way is up. And what better place to start than with a quick run down of the Carmarthen flea market I went to back in December?

It was the less pricey more boot-saley version of the antiques fair I went to right at the start of the month.

Book love: SY – Love for textiles.

I don’t know how they do it, but you can’t go into Ikea and buy just one thing, can you? When I was at my parents’ house in Wales over Christmas my mum and I nipped into the branch in Cardiff for a picture frame. Just a picture frame.

Say fromage!

I’m home! And there’s no place quite like it. I’ve spent over 12 hours on the road this Christmas and New Year. I’ve caught up with friends and family, I’ve received some fabulous presents, eaten some amazing food and I’ve even managed to squeeze in a flea market! But when you’ve lived out of a suitcase for a week, there’s nothing quite like getting back to your own space, surrounded by your own things.

And one of the best bits about coming home? Getting to unpack all your presents all over again, of course!
